Google continues to ensure that the company does not have a negative impact on the environment. The technology giant has just announced it will use recycled materials in every Google product starting in 2022.

Head of sustainability for Google hardware Anna Meegan said there would be more Google products such as Pixel smartphones, Google Home speakers, Nest devices, even cellphone casings that would be made from recycled materials.

According to the company, the use of recycled materials in the form of plastic has been used on Chromecast devices as well as fabric in Google Home products.

Google Use Recycled Materials For All Products in 2020

Commitment above does not mean that Google will use 100 percent recycled materials in its products by 2022. The company will not create all material products from recycled materials.

However, over time the company promises to use more and more recycled materials to design its products.

The use of recycled materials is not entirely new in the technology industry. Apple now makes aluminum casings for MacBook Air and Mac Mini computers from 100 percent recycled aluminum.

Even Samsung promised to use materials that can be recycled in the packaging of its products earlier this year.

Using recycled materials isn't the only promise that Google has made. The company also said it would make all shipments carbon-free by 2020.

Anna Meegan also said her team reduced emissions by 40 percent simply by switching from air shipping to cargo shipping.

In addition, Google also has a recycling program for customers. So, if you have a Google device that you no longer need, the company will send shipping labels for you to send the products back. Meanwhile, the program only applies in the United States.

Hopefully the steps taken by the giant technology companies above will be followed by all other large companies in various industries, so that the 'health' of the planet will be better maintained.
