The WhatsApp messaging platform recently tested a new feature. This feature shares WhatsApp status and then shows on Facebook as a story. This feature is similar to Instagram stories.
Since yesterday, the number of WhatsApp users has begun to feel the new feature. Users who can try the new features are only included in the WhatsApp beta program. They will see the new Sharing option below their status.
WhatsApp users who have been able to try the feature not only can send their WhatsApp status to Facebook. They also post status or send it to other applications such as Instagram, Gmail, or Google Photos.
As mentioned above, WhatsApp status is an Instagram story style feature. Namely, a service that allows users to post pictures, text, and videos on their profiles which will then disappear after 24 hours. Information about the integration of Facebook Inc's platform has indeed been developed for a long time.
Although there is a direct link to share the status of users to Facebook, WhatsApp claims to have done nothing to link user accounts to both services. They claim to use the Interface Programming Application (API) to share the same iOS and Android data with each other application, which means that data is transferred between applications on the device.
Even if users share data to other Facebook services such as Instagram, WhatsApp says the two posts will be separate facts on the Facebook system, and they will not be linked. There is also no option to share User WhatsApp status automatically with other services. WhatsApp also mentions those features that want to be an active feature on the user's side.
Regarding the new feature, WhatsApp must be careful in creating data sharing with Facebook. When Facebook received a message service back in 2014, WhatsApp promised that it would not share user data with Facebook and said it would be done independently.
But this changed in 2016 the company compilation said it would start sharing user data with Facebook. Since then, Facebook has approved the permission of France and Germany to transfer the commitment. In 2017, the company was fined USD 122 million by the European Commission for misleading regulators about where it could link accounts before obtaining.
More clearly, the new Share status feature of WhatsApp doesn't do any of the data sharing that made Facebook wrong in the past. While Facebook compilation allows users of special services to send messages to each other through a technical backend, even features that offer are not dangerous, this can be dangerous.
Launched in 2017, WhatsApp status has been developed to be used by 500 million users every day. In 2020, the status of the WhatsApp area will also be the first place in the WhatsApp application to display advertisements to users.
