Zoom teleconferencing application, is now in the spotlight. Not only because it is used by many people in the world who are pyhsical distancing in order to minimize the corona virus outbreak, but also because of the security holes that are in it.
Recently, it was reported that thousands of video recordings of virtual meetings on Zoom, leaked on the internet. In fact, in the video, a lot of sensitive information such as the faces of children who are being teleconferenced, company income, to immoral content.
Zoom's CEO, Eric Yuan even admitted that the application was not completely safe. He also promised to resolve the issue of privacy and security in the next few months.
Even in some US states, Zoom has been banned for use. The New York Department of Education has banned teachers from using Zoom when teleconferencing with students who are studying at home.
They are also directed to use similar applications that are considered safer, such as Microsoft Teams and will train teachers and department staff to use them.
If you feel one is very concerned about the security of personal data due to Zoom's vulnerable security, deleting an account can be considered.
How to delete a Zoom account is not difficult. The first thing to do is visit the Zoom site at the following link then log in to the Zoom account.
Then, go to the "Admin" menu in the left sidebar. Click Account Management then select Account Profile. On the right side there will be a Terminate my account option, click the option then select yes to delete the account.
After that, the Zoom Account will be deleted. If Zoom has kept its promise to fix the security hole, you can create an account again if you still want to use Zoom.
Zoom application itself was chosen because it is easy to use compared to similar platforms. Nevertheless, Zoom is currently tripping over security issues. Security researchers call Zoom has an easy gap for hackers to infiltrate.
In fact, this was also confirmed by a spokesman for Zoom. According to him, Zoom's security system only relies on the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol.
TLS itself is a protocol used to strengthen website security with a communication protocol in the form of HTTPS. This protocol is different from the end-to-end encryption security system which makes communication unable to be spied by hackers.
