Apple, iPhone cellphone manufacturer has bought Intel's smartphone modem business. This is a step that strengthens Apple's independence from other manufacturing companies.
According to Kuo Ming-chi, next year is the time when the latest generation iPhone appears with the 5G feature. Not only is the iPhone variant priced more expensive, but also all iPhone models, namely three of them support 5G, as quoted by Slashgear.
Seeing a few years ago, 5G technology is still a warm chat and hasn't really been realized. Some cellphone manufacturers may take a 'wait and see' approach, including Apple.
Acquisition of the Intel modem business can be Apple's way to be more independent in presenting the latest iPhone. However, it is not certain whether Apple will release the latest iPhone with the support of the 5G feature next year.
Kuo still seems to suspect that he is not sure what way Apple will take. On the one hand, he hopes that the three latest iPhones will support the mmWave spectrum and Sub-6GHz 5G which may be needed in markets such as the US.
On the other hand, Apple might also release a separate model that only supports the Sub-6GHz spectrum at a lower price.
